Tanking is generaly useless in PvE (with the exception of areas such as the DoA).
As a warrior, you should be focused more on damage than anything. Your high armor level will be protection enough, and the best offence if often the best defence. In other words, kill them before they kill you.
If you feel you must resort to defensive skills, things such as [skill]"Watch Yourself!"[/skill] and [skill]"Shields Up!"[/skill] are a lot more use than the "selfish" skills, as they not only aid you, but also the rest of the team.

Don't tank in PvE. Don't run Mending in PvE. Don't use Healing Prayers in PvE.
Either run [card]"Watch Yourself!"[/card],[card]Healing Signet[/card], or[card]Lion's Comfort[/card]. You don't need anymore defence than that.

If you're not supposed to tank in PvE, then WHEN are you supposed to tank? You sure as hell can't in PvP...
Anyway, take marty's other advice and don't run ANY healing prayers. The only time I use whammo is when I want to use mending touch or a nice, hard res.
I have a few builds, but none on me atm. Just use the dragon slash build for a sword build. That's a pretty good one and easy to find.

The answer is, you are not supposed to tank.
Back in the day you could tank and allow others to kill things. But now because of AI changes (from Factions onward), tanking is basically useless.

Tanking is boring as hell and time lost for the group. Max out your weapon mastery and kill things.
Bring decent (prot) monks too.

tanking is most usful in special farming gruops or solo runs (with a bit of damage ofc) But you can never make garuentee they will just mob you. no good if the rest of the parties dead. A good self heal and mabay a shout or 2 is best imo.

I have a very nice warrior build that has enough self defence
Go W/D, and take vital boon, signet of pious light, and conviction
with 12 earth prayers you have a very easy 275 heal as you need it, and while you are enchanted a nice armour boost to keep alive as well
that means you still have 5 skill slots, and your elite not taken yet
thats what i use and it works nicely throughout all game areas i've been in, and in PvP as well
